Biographical info

Education/Qualifications
  • Computer Science, University of Technology, Sydney
  • ISP consultant and engineer since 1996
  • Senior InfoSec officer at Cisco Australia
  • Developer and Technical Documentation writer of VyOS (Open Source router)
  • IPv6 Consultant and Advocate (for far too many years)
Relevant Board Experience

Having been a consultant or senior engineer on many Internet based projects, I have worked on, or closely with, many boards - both technical and non-technical.

Senior Management Experience

My entire career has been based around the Internet, from my first company (which was an ISP), to being the author of the worlds leading Open Source PBX, I have spent most of my working career in highly technical management roles.

Nominee statement

I have been heavily involved in the Internet in the Asia Pacific region for roughly 30 years, as a consultant, developer, designer, architect, and engineer.

I ran one of the first ISPs in Australia, and have consulted and assisted over 60 internet-based companies over this time.

Some career highlights would be working at Cisco in InfoSec, providing pro bono technical writing services to such projects as VyOS and Vyatta, and I am the author of the worlds most popular VoIP Server, FreePBX.

I currently live in a small town in Central Queensland, Australia, and have been using the skills and knowledge acquired here to assist companies with jumping the 'digital divide' that occurs when SMEs are not in locations that have easy and fast access to the internet

Reason for nomination

I ran one of the first ISPs in Australia, and have been heavily involved in the Internet in the Asia Pacific region for roughly 30 years. I recently have started to implement RPKI, which has shown me that there are some limitations and unforeseen roadblocks in the current APNIC Policies, which I would like to smooth over.
